HMTV Canada: Hi guys, Congratulations on your new Album
Harbinger which will be released through Metal Blade Records on June 9, 2009.
Can you tell us how Harbinger takes the listener on a journey of deception and
lies we are fed through the media in today’s society, the poisoning of our
environment and how the human race is being enslaved by the corporate giants
using our suffering as means to get what they need, maintaining constant
dependency so that their plans can proceed for control of the world?
Robbie Pina: The album starts off with a very militaristic
feel, giving the order to stand and fight for your rights. Each day they are
diminishing faster and faster and at this rate it won’t be long, a few years at
most, before the U.S. constitution and the Bill of Rights are obsolete. The
Harbinger covers everything from the volatility of the Dollar and the hypocrisy
of our President to the corrupt institutions such as the Catholic church and
the Federal Reserve System. The main theme of The Harbinger is to Expose the
plan of the plan of the global elitists to create their "New World
Order". The call for action and awakening is repeated from the beginning
of the album until the end. The album wraps up with a very surreal look into
the future and where we are headed if we continue to give up Liberty for
"Security." "Those who would sacrifice liberty for security
deserve neither," Benjamin Franklin.
HMTV Canada: What motivates or inspires the band to write
these controversial lyrics based on religion, power, political structure and
social issues in general about the entire world getting worse with each passing
day?
Robbie Pina: Our hatred for these issues. For us it is hard
to turn a blind eye to the most important issues of the world today. Rather
than writing about our ex-girlfriends or mutilating corpses, etc. We feel the
responsibility to spread awareness, not force our beliefs, but make people
think. Once people actually start thinking and thinking for themselves rather
than listening to what they are told, we will be living in a totally reformed
world.
HMTV Canada: Do all the band members contribute to the
writing of the lyrical content?
Robbie Pina: Yes, mostly everyone helped. Nick wrote the
majority of the lyrics during the November/December writing process. Lyrics to
a couple of songs were completed during the recording process while minor
changes were made during our time at Lambesis Studios. Most of the last-minute
tweaks or changes were made by Jeremy, Robbie, or Sims giving their own musical
or lyrical input.
HMTV Canada: Have there been any challenges the band
experienced in laying down the song tracks to Harbinger?
Robbie Pina: None whatsoever surprisingly. We spent the last
couple of months writing and constantly perfecting to the songs/parts. So, when
it came time to put them down in the studio, we were very prepared!
HMTV Canada: Do all the band members share the same musical
influences for their music and do they like to experiment and try new things
with their sound?
Robbie Pina: We all have a similar like for the same kinds
of music. Some of us listen to more of one genre than the other but we cannot
deny our love for metal in the least. All we have ever done in our hopeless
career as musicians is to take what we love and incorporate our likes in what
we listen to into our music.
HMTV Canada: And speaking of sound Harbinger is delivers up
a powerful, brutal death metal force to be reckoned with how did you land the
opportunity to work with Kelly and Daniel at Lambesis Studio?
Robbie Pina: Well, it first started off with Tim Lambesis
asking Metal Blade for us to go into his studio because he was still trying to
get the name out there and since we are new to Metal Blade it just made sense! So,
after a little bit of thinking about it and listening to what he had done with
the Austrian Death Machine CD we all knew we wanted that very solid sound that
Lambesis studio can capture.
HMTV Canada: How is your Metal Blade Young Guns Tour going
have you received a great turn out of fans attending?
Robbie Pina: We actually just had to drop off the last 6
dates of the tour due to van problems which is a major bummer to us cause every
night has been such a success! It’s been such a surprise to us to see the number
of fans we have every night, so it’s been very encouraging to say the least.
HMTV Canada: While on this tour are you incorporating your
song tracks from Harbinger in your playlist?
Robbie Pina: Yea, it’s about half new and half old. The fans
have been responding very positively to them as well.
HMTV Canada: Do you have any funny memorable stories or
experiences to reveal from your previous tours?
Robbie Pina: I do actually! Last year on tour we traded 2
shirts for 4 hits of LSD. My bassist Kevin and I decided to take it while in a
hotel in Bakersfield which was a terrible idea cause of all the homeless people
and meth addicts in the hotel! I also had to do laundry during my trip which
ended up with my clothes very wet the next day, ha-ha.
HMTV Canada: What comes to mind as being one of the bands
favorite places to play or music venue?
Robbie Pina: The White Rabbit in San Antonio Texas! They are
such big supporters of us and so very nice it’s always a pleasure to go back!
HMTV Canada: Will the band be producing any music videos
from their song tracks off of Harbinger?
Robbie Pina: Yes, there are plans for it but we are just
holding on them for right now.
HMTV Canada: I would like to see a video from your song
track Living Proof the lyrics are so strong in imagery and it strikes home in
reality in what all of us are experiencing every day, just for the asking what
are the chances of a video for this song track?
Robbie Pina: Probably very slim ha-ha. We really enjoy that
track but we feel that there are a couple of other ones that would be best for
our first video. Not to say it will never happen, but for the first one to come
out its most likely not going to happen.
HMTV Canada: What are Molotov Solutions career objectives
for 2009 will the band be concentrating on touring to promote Harbinger or is
the band writing new lyrics for another Album?
Robbie Pina: Both actually. We have not really toured as
much as the band should have over the last 5 years so we are dedicating the
rest of the year and so on to tour full-time. As for new material we are
already on our way because we just love writing new stuff and always have
something to say.
HMTV Canada: Before we wrap up our interview does the band
have any shout outs to friends or fans?
Robbie Pina: Absolutely! Thank you to all the fans and
friends who have supported us through the many years and we promise we will
make it out to your cities very soon!
HMTV Canada: I want to thank, Metal Blade Records and
Molotov Solution, for this interview. Horns High You Rock!
Robbie Pina: Thank you!
