HMTV Canada: Can you
tell us a little about your new video coming out soon that’s creating a huge
buzz in the media your song track “Regret & the Grave” from your New Album
The Harvest Floor such as where on location this video will be filmed at and
some of the special effects that will be featured in this video?
Travis: Yes! We just finished the majority of the shooting
last night. It’s almost done, just need to add a couple cut away scenes and its
done! It should prove to be a big surprise. Not going to give away the
storyline but it involves a guy who works for the organization from the Harvest
Floor front cover that is slowly eliminating the world's populace just as we
have done to animals since the industrial age began. There will be some very
intense and eerie scenes of interrogation and ultimately beheading. All this
mixed with some really quality footage of us performing inside a real
slaughterhouse! This butcher shop in Ventura let us come in because the owner's
son is a fan and they let us go to town. It was thoroughly disgusting but no
pain, no gain.
HMTV Canada: Can you tell us about the highlights of your
new Album The Harvest Floor how it takes the listener on a journey of
deception, and tyranny and slaughter?
Travis: My favorite is the title track which is really an
intro to the last song, "Regret and the Grave". They feature cello
and beautiful vocals by Jarboe of Swans. Those two songs together are a
rollercoaster ride of emotion, melody and intensity. We've successfully been
able to marry melody and sheer intense grind together. This album is like a
gigantic wedding procession of those two elements. Its hellish for sure.
Lyrically, it’s a lot like Karma.Bloody.Karma with earlier, tongue-in-cheek
elements. It’s our best record and I am positive everyone will agree. They're
already starting to judging by the reviews and that's a bonus.
HMTV Canada: I
noticed that this new Album’s lyrics relates to religion Armageddon or the end
days it almost embraces the depiction of a futuristic event and the songs “The
Gardeners of Eden” and “A Body Farm” are more brutal in sound than your
previous Albums is there been any special guest appearances featured on The
Harvest Floor?
Travis: Yes, I've dabbled a lot in speaking of "the end
times" more because that is what we're in. There are quite a few special
guests actually... Jarboe as I mentioned, Jackie Perez Gratz of Grayceon/Giant
Squid/Amber Asylum, Ross Sewage of Impaled/Ludicra and Dino Sommese of
Asunder/Dystopia. All are friends, except Jarboe has yet to meet us... she's
friends with the producer Billy Anderson and that's how we hooked up with her.
I love her and have been a fan for YEARS now. I'm just very excited about this
record!
HMTV Canada: What inspires or motivated the band to come up
with their lyrics about human deception, tyranny, illness, suffering, and war?
Travis: I am just a really pessimistic person. My friends
don't even want to hang out with me anymore and I've gotten a name for myself
which I wish I could deny, but I can't. I'm just this way. Dino Sommese is the
exact same way too. We had many talks about how life is bullshit while we were
recording this record. It doesn't have to be bullshit, but it is because of all
the outside forces trying to oppress and suffocate. I generally don't like
people and I'm quick to be one of those road rage assholes always finding
myself wanting to literally destroy that person without thinking. I have a grip
on it, but for how long, I just don't know. I'm not a sociopath. I have a
conscience. I just hate.
HMTV Canada: Cattle
Decapitation lyrics they are brutally compelling that an Artists can paint a
picture from the words, who is the mastermind with the sword in his hand
writing these powerful lyrics?
Travis: That's me... sorry! Ha-ha
HMTV Canada: Who
helps with the recording, mixing and mastering of all Cattle Decapitation music
production?
Travis: Well, Billy Anderson did most of the production work
on the album but we had Zach Ohren do the drums. Dave had a boner for his work
so we went with him and then had Billy do the rest. Turned out to be a great
combo! Billy and us really get into creating the sounds and crafting the tones.
Him and Josh our guitar player are like mad scientists behind the board!
HMTV Canada: Can you
tell us about your guitarist Josh Elmore being featured in Guitar World
Magazine?
Travis: I have one word to say to that... FINALLY!!! He's
become a serious force to be reckoned with. Some people may say "why don't
you have a second guitarist?" and my response is, "you think you can
find someone that can play THAT!?!?!" You have to see him to see what I
mean, no recording can do it justice.
HMTV Canada: Do you
still have limited editions of “The Harvest Floor” CD + T-Shirt, Cattle
Decapitation - Human Jerky 12" Picture Disc LP, and Karma Bloody Karma
Deluxe Limited-Edition LP” available to buy online?
Travis: Yeah, that stuff is everywhere! The Karma limited LP
is definitely the coolest thing we have! It’s kind of expensive but that's
because it has an embossed, full color, gatefold cover and it’s a picture disc
as well! This new album will be available as a limited-edition picture disc.
We'll have that Human Jerky for a little while longer but will probably be out
of print after this tour cycle!
HMTV Canada: Will
Metal Blade Records be producing any of these Limited Editions on Vinyl as a
Cattle Decapitated Special Promo to sell at concerts?
Travis: No, they don't really do stuff like that. But we
will have the LP and the CD at our shows along with tons of shirts and side
project releases!
HMTV Canada: Can give us the news about Cattle Decapitation
Burgers being sold at The Hamilton’s Pub and CafĂ© in San Diego?
Travis: ha-ha-ha... Our friend runs that place and created
it and its fucking amazing. I'm not just saying that - we don't get any of the
proceeds! Ha-ha-ha... but seriously, it’s very good. You don't have to be vegan
or vegetarian to enjoy it either. So many killer spices and its HOT!!! Man,
thanks a lot for asking that, now I'm hungry and want one! The pub chips it
comes with are
HMTV Canada: Before
we wrap up our interview does the band have any brutal shout outs to Cattle
Decapitation music masses or friends?
Travis: Don't believe everything you hear. Only believe like
half of what you read and if you have any doubt, ask first or mind your own
fucking business. Too many people don't mind their own business nowadays and it
really fucking pisses me off. And look for us to come and kill you soon!
HMTV Canada: I want
to thank Cattle Decapitation and Metal Blade Records for this interview
opportunity. Horns High You Rock!
HMTV Canada
Travis: Thank you!!! WE LOVE CANADA!!! AND Quebec too! ;) ... We'll be there soon on tour so tell your border guards to leave us alone! We're really very nice people!!! Ha-ha-ha...STAY GORE CANADA!!!
