HMTV Canada: Hi Hardreams; Congratulations on the release of
your Album Calling Everywhere and The Road Goes On.
Sergi: Thank you very much
HMTV Canada: Wow Hardreams has had a busy year, and it s
tough picking a favorite track because they are excellent my first question
here is who writes the bands lyrics the imagery in them is powerful?
Sergi: It's not only one member in the band who's
responsible for writing the lyrics. When someone gets inspired, he just says
"hey! let me put the lyrics on this melody". Then maybe we make some
changes all toghether.
HMTV Canada: Do all the band members contribute their ideas
to the lyrical content?
Sergi: Specially Manu, Victor and Sergio. The main one is
Manu, the lead singer. He's got a notebook where he downloads all the ideas
from his mind: music, lyrics...
HMTV Canada: What
motivates or inspires the band to write these positive lyrics in an intelligent
way are they based on desire, dreams, or simply good vibrations and life s
pleasurable moments?
Sergi: I would say they are simply good vibrations as you
say, but perhaps with a background of desire, dreams and ambitions as well.
HMTV Canada Music Review:
Hardreams classical rock sound is indeed a force to be reckoned very
melodic, unique and powerful lyrics that are very strong in imagery you can get
a visual from - the type of music that stays with you once you listen to
Hardreams song tracks they are addictive and the sound is sweet like wine.
HMTV Canada: Were
there any challenges in recording these Albums?
Sergi: Yes. During the recording process, we usually go to
the studio with our idea, song structures and so, but it's nearly impossible to
avoid including some changes, shortenings, ... but just small details.
HMTV Canada: Who helped with the mixing and mastering of
both Albums Calling Everywhere and The Road Goes On?
Sergi: "Calling everywhere" was mixed by Tomi P
rez and mastered by Carlos Creator, and "The Road goes on" was
engineered, mixed and mastered by Tomi P rez, a friend of the band who also
helped us in live shows as a sound technician.
HMTV Canada: Have the fans requested any musical videos from
your song track Wings of Fire or any song tracks from The Road Goes On?
Sergi: Yes, they have. And we also have been discussing
several times about that. Maybe we will do a musical video in the future
HMTV Canada: Can you tell us a little about the current
lineup do all the band members share the same influences for their music style
and do they like to experiment and try new things or ideas to their sounds?
Sergi: Not at all. We all have our own musical influences.
But we also have a wide mind regarding music and that's probably what allows us
to reach a common point where everyone’s happy, comfortable and satisfied with
the musical style that Hardreams represents. Maybe that's good, don't you
think? About trying new things, again we are not all the same. Due to our
specific musical preferences, not all of us want to go for a more modern sound,
or sometimes more progressive, more commercial. You know, trying to slightly
scape for a little while from our 80s classical style.
HMTV Canada: What is the music scene like in Barcelona Spain
is Classical Rock a popular genus of music receiving lots of radio airplay?
Sergi: No way. We always say we should have done our musical
career in the States or somewhere else, because in Spain Classical Rock is not
worthy. People is more interested in different musical styles. We lately were
invaded by reggaeton, easy and simple commercial melodies from TV programmer’s
singers and a lot of international music coming from the outside of the
country. It seems to me that maybe that's too much and there's not enough place
for our style.
HMTV Canada: I couldn’t believe what I was hearing the first
time I tuned into Hardreams music because it’s very different and rare I
expected the songs to be in Spanish and the English is excellent are there many
classical rock bands in Spain?
Sergi: Thanks for the comment. Actually, the vast majority
of the Spanish bands do sing in Spanish. We don't like our style to be sung in
Spanish. It doesn't sound good at all for us. That's why we chose English.
HMTV Canada: Questions from one of our Street Team Members
that is currently learning and studying Spanish Music. Gracie asks: Are there traditional bands that still play
the Spanish Castanets and the traditional Flamingo Classical Guitar?
Sergi: Of course there are. Even though we talked about
classic rock, commercial rock, Spanish Pop (let me make up this new style he-he-he),
in our country there's a lot of people that keep on playing traditional music.
In each region we have our different traditional styles and Flamingo is quite
spread especially around the South.
HMTV Canada: Are there lots of clubs and music venues to
play at throughout Barcelona?
Sergi: Yes. There's a lot of clubs, pubs, venues and places
where you have the opportunity to play.
HMTV Canada: What comes to mind as being the bands most
memorable funny, wild tour or music festival?
Sergi: I don't know. By now, we've had very good times going
to other cities to play but we haven't been on tour. We've taken part in
musical festivals and I think it's great.
HMTV Canada: Has Hardreams shared the stage with other
bigger bands on previous tours?
Sergi: We've shared stage with artists like Bob Catley,
Vaughn (Tyketto), Firehouse, Jim Peterik (Survivor, Mecca, Pride of Lions),
Edguy and others.
HMTV Canada: What are the chances of Hardreams coming to
Canada (hint we demand Hardreams to come to Canada and play hint) to play live
on a North American tour?
Sergi: It mainly depends on the opportunity of being able to
go there, play, go back and not loosing money. You know, for us playing
anywhere is always a possibility, but have to take into account the it has to
be profitable. A part from that, we will be really pleased to play in Canada
and I'm sure that a North American tour would be just awesome!
HMTV Canada: If the band had the chance to play live any
country in the world where would to tour to first and why?
Sergi: I don't know where would we start, but we would go
for sure to the United States and Japan, where our music is having more
success. Then, we'd probably go to european countries like UK, France, Greece,
Italy.
HMTV Canada: What are the chances of seeing both Calling Everywhere
and The Road Goes On come out in vinyl copies in the future have the fans been
asking for them?
Sergi: The truth is that, as far as I know, we've not been
asked to do so. I don't rule it out anyway.
HMTV Canada: Does the band sell merchandise at their live
shows like hoodies, tee shirts, posters, and CD s?
Sergi: Nowadays, we only sell CDs in our shows as
merchandise. We've been thinking about doing T-shirts, sticks, posters and
so... but we haven't done it yet.
HMTV Canada: Before
we wrap up our interview does the band have any shout outs to friends or fans?
Sergi: Just thank everyone that supports us, radios,
magazines, webs, ... and all the fans that follow our live shows. That's what
keeps us doing what we do. We hope we all together will enjoy good music for a
lot of more years. If you like our two first albums, be sure you're going to
love the third!
HMTV Canada: Thank
you, Hardreams, for taking the time to complete this interview. I would also
like to send thanks to, Perris Records, for allowing our HMTV Canada eZine to
interview Hardreams. You Rock and we hope to see the band play live in Canada
in the near future.
Sergi: You are very welcome
