Hollywood Music TV Canada - Tina Interviews Fuelhead Music

HMTV Canada:  Hi FuelHead how are you doing and what is the weather like in Sweden is it starting to get colder there?

Fuelhead: Hey Tina and cheers all you guys at HMTV for interest in us Swedish metalheads! :-)

Oh girl, right now are turbulent crazy times for us!

Me and Andras (lead vocals & bass) have decided to take FUELHEAD

to the next level at any cost so, therefore, are we actually as we speak

looking for both a new drummer and a new record label.

We do have our sights already on a totally awesome drummer (who happens to love our little band, he he) so, the creativity is actually floating over here!

Our Swedish record label had never the right tools to reach out

to the market outside Sweden and we have always aimed for the market over at you guys so it

was a natural step for all of us to split ways!

This will be awesome in the end and hopefully we will find a label soon that can promote FUELHEAD the right way in the U.S and Canada.

Oh well, the weather is getting perfect for sitting in the studio and write.

It’s getting dark and cold and it’s just about the same as in up north Canada, I guess.

HMTV Canada: First of all, my daughter, Gracie would like to give Fuelhead a shout out "Fuelhead Rocks!". Gracie's favorite band is Fuelhead.  She thinks your bike hobby rules. Gracie rides her own dirt bike that's her hobby; she is attending college working at getting her degree in Nursing. She asks how long has Fuelhead been into motorbikes and do you tour all over Sweden riding your motorbikes?

Fuelhead: We already LOVE your daughter! Bikes & FUELHEAD! Cannot ask for more!

I used to work for many years in taking care of elderly people so nursing is a great way to learn what is important in life!

We have always been in to bikes and cars to for that matter.

I am a huge Corvette fan and will ASAP buy me an old Corvette C3. Anyway, no we don t ride to the gigs.

We don t want to cancel the gigs.

We (me and Andras) ride old choppers with hard seats, rigid frames and that gives us sore asses

and we need a lot of breaks + that Andras old BSA is not the most trust worthy one so riding is not an option yet, ha-ha!

HMTV Canada: How did Fuelhead make it to the cover of Chopper Head Magazine?

Will your band be featuring your motorbikes in Fuelhead's Music Videos in the future?

Fuelhead: We found each other through our myspace/fuelheadmusic site and we kind of hit it off right away so to speak. :-)

They dug our style and our bikes and we dug the fact that they had a true heart for the underground culture so we arranged the photoshoot over here and that was it!

Pretty awesome considering that our debut is not released more than digital over in America.

Hell yeah!! Bikes is our passion so we will most definitely use them in some way in a video later on.

HMTV Canada: What inspired Fuelhead to come up with the very emotional music video "Little Ones" and the powerful music video that rocked my socks off "Wanna' Be Like You"? Is there a story behind each of these music videos?

Fuelhead: Cool that you like them!

Yeah, it’s a story behind both of them.

We took a wild shot when we released the video "Little Ones" first since it’s the softest song on the album and lyric-wise the most emotional one. We just had to make it true to the lyrics (the song is about abused children) and not just make the regular "playing live, babes & bikes video."

Nothing wrong with those videos of course but we do have something to say (usually, :-), as well as playing hard.

But for showcasing FUELHEAD maybe we would have released them in reverse order since "Wanna Be Like You" is shot live and shows the side of FUELHEAD most people will see and hear in the future.

HMTV Canada: Tell us about your recent mini tour with the bands Outshine (Sweden) and Supermonkey (Norway), did you have a great turn out of fans attend your last gig? How are people currently reacting to Fuelhead’s music?

Fuelhead: Oh, we had so much fun on the tour! Those guys are the best!

Outshine is as we speak on a 1-month North America tour now and our plan is to join them on their next America tour next year!

People are usually in a little bit of shock after they have heard us live, since we sound bigger live than the 3 piece we are.

No, we do not use any backtracks. The trick is that me and Andras share the lead vocal to make it big and we tune and play our instruments a little bit different so the sound gets thicker.

We sound like a 5-piece band in just 3 people!

It’s really cool though to see people’s reactions but we have always been a power-trio so that is all we know anyway.

HMTV Canada: I checked out your myspace www.myspace.com/fuelheadmusic blog to get an update on the latest Fuelhead news and noticed the link for Club Lipz. Many thanks to DJ Kiel, she took really great pics of Fuelhead. According to your blog Fuelhead has a beard competition between Jimmy and Palle, can you tell us more about your beard contest?

Fuelhead: Oh man it is really plain male stupidity; we shared a few pints one day and made this stupid bet that we’d grow a full beard over the summer and the one who shave first gives the other one 10 chocolate bars.

Well just a bet over some chocolate bars is itself stupid but now it’s way beyond that...I never knew how fast it grows and how much beard I actually have.

And I refuse to lose the bet to a stubborn bloody ex-drummer, ha-ha! Especially, not now when we have decided to part ways with him (There’s no hard feeling about the split I should say as well, he is still working for FUELHEAD behind the scenes doing the websites and stuff so it’s all cool).

Anyway, we look like freaking Zakk Wylde now and the bet runs out the 30th of September.

After that, it’s ok to shave and no one wins.

The funny thing about it is that the girls hate it but all the guys think it s totally awesome!!

Our local newspaper here did a spread about it so everyone knows about it as well, ha-ha.

HMTV Canada: Can you tell us your plans about your upcoming new album you will be writing and recording shortly? What are your hopes and goals for your new upcoming album? Will you be covering international tours in the future?

Fuelhead: We have sat really high expectations on ourselves to make or break on the next album!

Our debut is pretty slick production and playing-wise, and the songs I guess comes more to their right when we play live, so the next one will be a lot more unpolished & brutal but still the focus is to write the best songs we can!

It is and it’s always been about to write the best possible songs our hearts and souls can squeeze out!

If the songs are good enough, which I know they are, no one can stop us.

The goal is to tour international and make a decent living on the music!

Since we have just become unsigned, the first step will be to find a new label and take it from there.

HMTV Canada: How long has the Fuelhead band family been together, how did you become connected to make music, what are your musical influences, who writes your songs and does Fuelhead have a record label?

Fuelhead: Ha, ha I love the question!

Nope NO label right now then ha-ha!

Anyone knows of a good label, do not hesitate to let us know.

HMTV has the links to us

Me and Andras have been friends since Jesus walked the earth in shorts.

We were introduced to each other by mutual friends’ years and years ago and since we share the same passion for music so it’s always been natural for us to play together!

Jimmie was in the band since we started in 99, and he is and will always be one of my closest friends even after now that he s left the band!

I write 95% of the songs myself and Andras do the rest.

All song ideas are then put in and slaughtered by the FUELHEAD machinery and only the best possible songs slip out.

I am getting quite good at killing my darlings these days.

Influences; I love brilliant songwriters as our domestic Max Martin but I grew up

with ABBA. The songs girl, the songs and the girls, he-he timeless.

My turning point as a rocker was then my sister bought me "Creatures of the night" and "Destroyer" with KISS for X-mas.  My current favorite is Rammstein!

Let’s put it simple, we are influenced by heavy music like Pantera, Stone Sour. Mostly American bands but also Scandianavian bands like InFlames, Mnemic and Soilwork.

Music with attitude and great melodies!

HMTV Canada: Can you tell us about Fuelhead’s own unique style of music and how your music has evolved since you first began playing together? What kind of recording environment do you have and what are your rehearsals generally like?

Fuelhead: Well as I said, we tune our instruments a bit differently so that’s probably one of the things that gives us a sound unlike others to start with.

We are totally suckers for hooks in songs weather it may be a guitar-riff, a chorus, a solo or anything.

It’s nothing unique in our way to write, I guess but our search for the perfect riff or perfect chorus makes

FUELHEAD a very special blend, I think!

The music is getting heavier by each year and the new songs are no exception.

The next album will be a brutal but beautiful piece of art. Trust me!

We are fortunate enough to have a recording studio very close to our home.

Thomas who owns the studio (called Carlsoro Studio) is our "fourth member" and has been involved in our band since the start!

He is the absolute best and he is a very important part of FUELHEAD!

Well who knows what our rehearsals with our next drummer will be like.

Crazy and highly productive I hope, ha-ha!

HMTV Canada: How do you like our music site at Hollywood Music TV? What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands today?

Fuelhead: If it was not for guys like you at Hollywood Music TV, many bands would not survive!

We LOVE your site!!

I plan to spend a lot of time in there later on this winter, and for people who want to form or already have a band, be creative and have FUN while you do it! Do not be afraid of doing something different but remember that an image is only cool if it’s true to yourself.

Otherwise, it’s just looking silly and the most important thing, the songs.

A good song outlives any bloody image in the world.

HMTV Canada: Is there anyone you would like to acknowledge or any last words?

Fuelhead: I would like to thank you Tina for the support in us! We truly salute you for it and for everyone else. Check us out and spread the word!! Thanks for reading this interview!
