HMTV Canada: Hi Helalyn Flowers How are you? The design and wealth of information at your main web is awesome. How did you come up with your band name Helalyn Flowers and how long have you known each other?

Helalyn Flowers: It’s Max who came out with that name. It obsessed him for some days like a mantra until he proposed it to N0emi as the band s name. We just split up our previous band The Claw and were searching for a name able to fully reflect our true spirit.  Helalyn is an archaic English term which stands for hidden zone. A sort of B-zone that after vulgarly became hell. It’s arid and desolated and flowers (seen as vital source) can’t grow on them. It’s something absurd but we are absurd! We are against conventional life, we know no rules and we strongly believe in our energy! We are alien to and in this world. So, we are the flowers that grow on the ground they wouldn’t.

HMTV Canada: When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together and who are your current band members?

Helalyn Flowers:  As told before, we split up our previous band in 2004 because we were terribly tired of all those musical cowards and hobbyists who used to play with us. So, we decided to continue as a duo since our synergy is absolute, as well as our will to create something never seen or heard before. Our reciprocal esteem and awareness of our capacities and talents was the only true input to the band s starting. We two are and will be the only core and motor of Helalyn Flowers, depicting of other musicians who accompany us on stage!

HMTV Canada: Tell us about your unique style of music your major influences? How has your music evolved or changed since you first began playing? Who writes your songs?

Helalyn Flowers: What you listen is the summa of all our influences and likes. It’s like a kind of filter if you want.  When we began Helalyn Flowers, we were so much influenced by soundtracks like Queen Of The Damned, Spawn, Resident Evil and others, great albums like Mechanical Animals,  Untouchables and  Ultra  plus Bjork, Miranda Sex Garden and other fantastic early 90s Alternative stuff. You know, we are true music-lovers and listen to a very big variety of genres. It doesn’t care the style but how much we like it. The earlier influences have been increased and not replaced at all! All Helalyn Flowers s songs are written by both us. Generally Max starts with a riff or with a rough draft of arrangement and together we see what works and what doesn’t and what we want to add or delete.  Then N0emi adds lyrics and vocals, but often it happens that we start from a N0emi s vocal part to arrange the whole track. There are no rules in this process!

HMTV Canada: What can you tell us about your instruments brand are you subject to brand loyalty or will you play whatever s available? What kind of recording environment do you have?

Helalyn Flowers: Since we aren’t sponsored yet by any brand, we won’t name our brands, ah-ah!

HMTV Canada: Where have you performed? What is your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

Helalyn Flowers: We played our last show in a Fest in Italy and it was a shame. Unable engineers and really bad organization. Continuous technical problems even during the show, until in the middle of the fourth track we leave the stage. But our performance was great and we tried to maintain our professionalism high despite of the technical problems. Unfortunately, this kind of things happen too much times in Italy, a country in which everyone is an improvised and rogue! We wait for the albums coming out to deal with a foreign booking agency for Europe. Our upcoming shows are all in Italy until next January.

HMTV Canada: Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any organizations? Can you tell us about your latest CD release, anything from messages to inspirations, your biggest challenge as a band.

Helalyn Flowers: Our debut-album A Voluntary Coincidence will be out on November 9, via Alfa-Matrix. This album is pretty different from what we did in the past and at the same time it holds each component of our sound that is actually known to the public. It includes 11 tracks (also E-Race Generation and Voices, which are the only two already edited tracks, even if re-recorded and re-mastered this time) and the official title is A Voluntary Coincidence. Also, a limited-edition version will be out. It will be a box including gadgets to be defined plus a bonus disc with remixes. The opening track is Eye for a Day, the harder song of the album together with DGTal Blood . You can find metal guitars, mixed with hard electronics beats and alienating vocals. In this song frames of daily life are seen under the viewpoint of an eye itself, without being filtered by the human mind, seeing things in an absolutely direct and uncorrupted way.  DGTal Blood is a song dedicated to all the ones who never believed in me and would stop my passions. Nothing and no-one can stop your will if you really want. In songs like I’m human, defective, My girlfriend insanity,  Tide Line  and  Silent Conversation, synth-pop influences are combined with rock guitars and a very pop approach for the vocals.  I’m Human, defective is a dialogue of a human life, speaking about its mistakes, defects and lacks, which suggests us to see the human race like a neglected experiment.  My Girlfriend insanity is a song that I feel very intimate. Many times, it happens that no-one can understand your state of mind, neither yourself I feel insanity like something so visceral, hidden and penetrating That’s the only thing, which totally knows yourself. For this, I feel Her my girlfriend.  Silent Conversation is a song which describes a dialogue with my inner self, and Tide Line speaks about a very hard period I lived, like I was the onlooker of my own drowning.  A Sweet and Deep Bomb In My Heart is the song, which more represents Helalyn Flowers sound. It’s full of odd orchestrations and a warm atmosphere that we really love! Here guitars change a lot sound, from hard-rock to industrial, and vocals are popper and infectious. This song is a reflection on life, corruption and hypocrisy. It speaks about the will to disappear and wake up in a brand-new world without religions, politics and lies.  Alice In My Chamber is together with E Race Generation one of the more electro-influenced but with a punk approach which gives to the song freshness and peculiarity. In this case, I used a popular icon,  Alice , to represent fantastic world, where everything can happen. Mine is a provocation, I defied Alice to come in my secret chamber to try and find things impossible to find neither in her fairy tale! Yes, I described a part of my mind that makes me afraid, impossible to stop, impossible to hold at bay...  E-Race Generation and Voices are already popular in the clubs worldwide. In E-Race Generation (For E, I mean the electronic. I called electronic race the new generation, which day-by-day becomes addicted to the fake, the artificial and feelingless things) I speak about a woman who works as business agent of a new pill which contains different feelings and short fragments of life. It’s the ideal for people that are not enough brave to risk living their own life.

HMTV Canada: What are some of the highlights of Helalyn Flowers your goals where you hope to be in 5 years with your band your ultimate direction and how your fans are currently reacting to your music?

Helalyn Flowers: Our goal is continuing to make the only music we love and want to listen to, that is ours! We want to be recognized as an universal band, because our music is universal. We are beyond genres, scenes and lifestyles. We are ourselves. We don t even care to be diverse, we are evidence. Our fans welcome this and we are very happy and pleased to collect every day fans from all over the world who are truly devoted to Helalyn Flowers and who are not just the many Myspace-gorgeous-hot-stunning-phenomenon.  Where we hope to be in 5 years? If people will let us become rich, we will be fat, depressed, viced and alcohol/drugs-addicted, so maybe in some clinic? Ah-ah, f**k Rock n Roll attitude!

HMTV Canada: Do you have any remixes or are working on any? Compilation experiences good or bad ones?

Helalyn Flowers: Max already remixed UK act Unter Nulls This Is Your End that has been published on the successful 4CD Box F**k The Mainstream Vol.1, in which we appear with E-Race Generation too. His remix is very different than the original one that was vey in the Harsh-EBM/Industrial style. He took the only clean female vocal part to give life to a new song over again. It came out an energic mix of classical instruments like piano, harp, violins and viola and an electro drum-ground. It was well welcomed by both band and label, even if it’s not oonz-oonz at all. Less provocatory than expected! Actually, we are not working on any remixes and neither we are interested to!

HMTV Canada: What do you think of the current Gothic/EBM/Industrial/ Noise/ Synthpop/ Metal music scene today? Are you affiliated with any dark underground scenes like Vampire Freaks?

Helalyn Flowers: We don’t like scenes. We don’t care of them. We are simply interested to play our music and to reach more people as possible. Underground is just an index of fame and nothing else. There is too much philosophy, idealism and rules in the underground scenes. That is really stupid. Vampire Freaks is another useful to show us off and thanks to them we got in contact with Alfa-Matrix and signed with them!

HMTV Canada: From your experience is there a way bands interact with each other or does it depend on something? An Example of this Question: There are bands that are just starting out, bigger bands will try hard to promote their friends and there are bands that are cool with cross promoting each other in spite of all the pressure.  Do you have any friends that are doing something really exciting in the music scene that you think people should be aware of?

Helalyn Flowers: Nowadays people think that the Myspace s Top 8 exchange is enough. Well, we don’t. The term help has a strong value for us. We are always ready to help our most intimate friends who play to emerge.  Cooperation between bands is something almost non-existing here in Italy. There is a lot of envy and avidity.

HMTV Canada: How do you like our music site at Hollywood Music TV? What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

Helalyn Flowers: First of all, please verify how much you believe in music. If you are music-hobbyists or have other goals in life (all respectable!) just do it for fun and to fulfill your free-time. But don’t expect heaven for this. If you have the fire inside play the music you want to listen and that you are not able to find around. Be your own fave band. Don’t care about what people think of you, just go straight on your way. Avoid covers. The common credence of initially playing covers to reach a higher ability on your instrument, so that you are able then to write your own songs is pure crap!!! Be free.

HMTV Canada: There is a kind of ancient connection vibe to singer, songwriters, something that ties the bands to write about their personal experiences’ inspirations, worst experiences while performing or travelling, do you ever collaborate on these experiences in your music?

Helalyn Flowers:  I don’t use talking about my personal experiences in our songs, even if daily life is a big inspiration source. But I use losing in my mind and talking about histories and visions I live in my virtual world. It’s something abstract that is strictly connected to my personal experiences, but not explicitly. Most of HF lyrics refer to states of hallucination, feelings and visualizations that determined objects or elements may live. Like in Eye For A Day, for example, (included in our forthcoming debut-album), where frames of daily life are seen under the viewpoint of an eye itself, without being filtered by the human mind, seeing things in an absolutely direct and uncorrupted way. Or in I’m Human, defective  that it is a dialogue of a human life, speaking about its mistakes, defects and lacks which suggest us to see the human race like an experiment, maybe still incomplete?

HMTV Canada: Is there anyone special you would like to acknowledge, and any last words?

Helalyn Flowers: We did that in our album’s credits, thanks and dedications. Don’t believe in the rules of music scenes, go beyond and you will be the new gods. Be yourself!

HMTV Canada: Helalyn Flowers, thank you for taking the time to complete HMTV s Canada s Online Ezine Interview. -You Rock.

Helalyn Flowers: Thank you for this pleasant conversation and for the warm support! We wish you all the best in life. Love& Respect-Max N0emi_Helalyn Flowers.

Metal Kel Interviews Enemynside

www.enemynside.com

http://www.myspace.com/enemynside

Hollywood Music TV s Metal Kel, talks with my hanging out with my dear friend Matt (a.k.a. "Thrasher"), guitarist for my personal favorite N Most KIK ASS Italian Band "EnemyNside".

Metal Kel: Hey Matt, how are you?

Thrasher: Quite fine!

Metal Kel: Like I mentioned, you’re a metal band out of Italy. Can you tell us what the metal scene like there?

Thrasher: The metal scene here is full of talented bands but it isn’t the same with the venues, booking agency, Italian labels or insiders the only professional people inside the Italian music scene are the musicians!

Metal Kel: How was EnemyNside created?  Who are the current members?

Thrasher: Enemynside is active since 1999. Frallo (the singer of the band) decided to start the band in 1994 with a different monicker (Scapegoat). I joined Scapegoat in 1997 and after two years we changed from Scapegoat to Enemynside. The current members are Frallo (vocals), Thrasher (guitars), Dave (guitars), Suez (bass) and Nyk (drums).

Metal Kel: How long have you all known each other?  How did you meet?

Thrasher: I know Frallo since 1997 (the year I joined the band). We met each other because I had my band playing around and you know, the music scene is the same so the people are the same! About the other members we changed the line-up several times, all the musicians involved in Enemynside are involved in other bands too.

Metal Kel: Who are your major influences?

Thrasher: Don’t know, we grew up with Metallica and the bay area sound, but now we’re listening to many different bands, from Backyard Babies to Machine Head!

Metal Kel: Who makes most of the creative decisions?

Thrasher: Me and Frallo. We wrote all the Scapegoat/Enemynside songs from the beginning until now. Anybody but us write riffs for the band! I don’t know if it will change in the next future but for now, we make the most of creative decisions.

Metal Kel: Do you have any themes or topics for most of your songs?

Thrasher: You mean about the lyrics? Frallo is the man behind all the lyrics and he usually writes about personal experiences.

Metal Kel: So, how has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?

Thrasher: The music evolved since we evolved personally. We started to play heavy-thrash metal .and we re still playing it, a way better than before with a modern attitude, but it’s the same heavy-thrash metal we started with!

Metal Kel: Where have you performed?

Thrasher: We performed all around Italy and abroad, but unfortunately never been to USA.

Metal Kel: Do you have a favorite venue?

Thrasher: All the venues we’ve never been yet!

Metal Kel: Are you signed to any labels currently?

Thrasher: We signed an European deal with Sleaszy Rider Records. Our new full length titled In The Middle Of Nowhere will be released in the early 2008 all around Europe.

Metal Kel: How many albums/ videos have you released?

Thrasher: We released our first full length titled Let The Madness Begin all around Europe in 2003 and now we’re about to release the new album as I wrote before. About the videos we have two official videos: the first one is for the song Your Enemy Inside (from the first album), the second one is a promotional videoclip for the new song Burnt By The Sun from the new album.

Metal Kel: Who produces/directs them?

Thrasher: Riccardo Frediani from Actually Negative (http://myspace.com/actuallynegative).

Metal Kel: How was it?

Thrasher: Great!

Metal Kel: Have you toured yet?

Thrasher: Sure, we toured to promote our first album from 2003 to 2005.

Metal Kel: Do you ever play any covers?

Thrasher: Yes, we use to play covers sometimes from Metallica to Iron Maiden, from Sacred Reich to Testament, from Slipknot to Guano Apes J.

Metal Kel: Which songs do you perform most frequently?

Thrasher: A couple of songs taken from the first album. The oldest song from the first album was written in 1991, its titled Bad Junks and I think it’s the most performed song ever!

Metal Kel: How many countries have you destroyed so far?

Thrasher: We have destroyed any countries yet, we’ll work for it with our new album!

Metal Kel: What the most insane, hilarious memory you have doing a live show?

Thrasher: Me falling on stage during a gig! I was drunk and I broke my guitar.

Metal Kel: So, what s coming next from EnemyNside?

Thrasher: We are planning the release party for the new album, a tour and a new videoclip stay tuned!

Metal Kel: How can fans/fans-to-be gain access to your music?

Thrasher: For further info about the band they can join us visiting www.myspace.com/enemynside and www.enemynside.com

Metal Kel: Thank you so much Matt, you know I have crazy love for EnemyNside!  From myself and all of us at Hollywood Music TV, for your time.  Now get your fucken asses here to America!  Lets ROCK this SH*t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thrasher: Thanx to you sweety! See ya on stage.

Brought to you by Metal Kel S.D.M.F. We Love Kel!

Lisa Hollywood Music TV Canada Online Ezine

This Lisa Hollywood Music TV Canada Online Ezine And I have the honor of Interviewing  Candy Bones and Nullifer from Spectrum X.

www.myspace.com/spectrumx

HMTV Lisa:  How did you come up with name Spectrum X and how long have you known each other?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Spectrum-X means the ghost without a name. We didn't choose it because we formed a band and we were looking for a name, it just happened because Spectrum-X is more than a band. It's a living creature... We know each other longer than you can imagine.

HMTV Lisa: When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together and who are your current band members?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Spectrum-X was born almost 4 years ago. Exactly When Nullifer left the USA to join me here in Italy. We used to see strange moving shadows in our room at night, with candlelight those inspired us to form Spectrum-X. Two new members just entered the band a few months ago: Simon Garth (guitar) and Andrew Karloff (bass). Nullifer is the singer and compose the drums and keyboards, and I sing and play bass and help with the keyboards. Oh, I forgot the live terror...I do that too.

HMTV Lisa: Tell us about your unique style style of music your major influences? How has your music evolved or changed since you first began playing? Who writes your songs?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Since now, me and Nullifer wrote everything. From now on, the new 2 members will put their parts in the future songs. We have always been inspired from strange obscure things...ghosts, magic, atmospheres, ancient places. At the beginning, years ago, our project was more "metal" there was just a thin line of keyboards. Now it evolved in something more complete, I can say. We use more keyboards and I started singing too, which iis a thing that our fans seem to appreciate a lot. They say my voice and Nullifer's sound great together.

HMTV Lisa: You have a CD out right now. Tell us a little about it.

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Tea Party With Zombies: fairytales of horror, haunting and destruction. Every song is a little scary story. Every song is marked with blood. Every song comes from far away...Do i need to add more? Tea Party With Zombies is something unique! You can't find something like that somewhere else!

HMTV Lisa: They are some great tracks on the CD. You guys are shooting a video in a few months. What song will you be doing for the video. And what should we expect from this video?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: The song is top secret for now. It’s a brand-new song, which the 2 new members contribute in writing to adding guitar and bass. It’s really really a crazy song...You can't even imagine, even if you try hard, you could never guess what this is about! The video will be the best video ever! I can assure you that.

HMTV Lisa: I’m sure you guys have performed around Europe. Is there any plans of doing an American tour anytime soon?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Touring the USA will take a long time just to set things up. please American fans, be patient...we want to play in the USA, but can't do it right now. Need a little more time!

HMTV Lisa: Where do you see Spectrum X in 5 years?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: NO ANSWER.

HMTV Lisa: Do you have any remixes or are working on any? Complilation experiences good or bad ones?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Not at the moment.

HMTV Lisa: You have posted your video interview with fans asking you questions. Will we see more of those in the future?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Of course. We love doing video interviews. Expect more for sure.

HMTV Lisa: What do you think of the current Gothic/EBM/Industrial/ Noise/Synthpop/Metal music scene today? Are you affiliated with any dark underground scenes?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: We like that kind of music. It’s going very well especially in Germany. We have a side project called TraumaFactor that is EBM, pure EBM.  It’s only me and Null. But it’s not that we put much effort in that project like in Spectrum-X. TraumaFactor is for fun, and to play in clubs once in a while.

HMTV Lisa: From your experience is there a way bands interact with each other or does it depend on something? There are bands that are just starting out bigger bands will try hard to promote their friends and there are bands that are cool with cross promoting each other inspite of all the pressure.  Do you have any friends that are doing something really exciting in the music scent that you think people should be aware of?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: No Answer.

HMTV Lisa: How do you like our music site at Hollywood Music TV? What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Don't expect anything from anyone. No one is going to give you anything for free. Maybe at the beginning they make you think that, but believe me, they will just forget about it and do their own business. You have to work very hard by yourself. Thats the only advice for bands we have.

HMTV Lisa: There is a kind of ancient connection vibe to singer, songwriters, something that ties the bands to write about their personal experiences inspirations worst experiences while performing or traveling, do you ever collaborate on these experiences in your music?

Candy Bones and Nullifer: Sometimes our experiences seep into the music.

HMTV Lisa: Is there anyone special you would like to acknowledge, and any last words? Let us know the links to where people can check out Spectrum X purchase CD's and merchandise?

Candy Bones and Nullfer: http://www.myspace.com/spectrumx; http://www.cdbaby.com/spectrumx; and you can find us on ITUNES also. Thank you Lisa and thanks to Hollywood Music TV for this space.

HMTV Lisa 14. Candy Bones and Nullifer.  Thank you for taking the time to do this interview for HMTV s Canada s Online Ezine.  We look forward to hearing more from Spectrum X in the near future. You guys totally rock.

Hollywood Music TV Canada Interviews HMTV Bodies Band

HMTV Canada: Hi Bodies how is your summer going so far?

Bodies: Well, summer's been great on a personal level. We've been on a 5-week break and have just gathered again for rehearsals. Getting back together, however, was magic. (Clint)

Yeah, it is nice to be back together again. I have been working on some new songs during the summer and its soon time to present them for the rest of the band. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: Let’s start with when bodies started out as a pure cover band can you tell us about Never Mind The Bollocks album you covered for?

Bodies: We were a few childhood friends that sort of found ourselves in suburbia with nothing more to do than go to work. And that was no fun. So, we thought we'd start a band again and do something we loved and something that was easily rehearsed in order to get out and play as soon as possible. So, we went for the classic Sex Pistols' album 'Never Mind the Bollocks...". A brilliant album with all classic punk rock songs on it. Plus, the fact that my voice was a real good Rotten-sound-alike. I'd met a guitarist while on a pub round in Stockholm, that was really interested and he knew Nick and brought him along. So, we started rehearsing. And got our first gig just a month after the first rehearsal. So, we played around Stockholm quite a bit and started writing our own material as well. Soon enough though, Felcher was replaced by John L. Undell. This was his first session in the band and we're just overly happy that he is back with us again. (Clint)

It was perfect to start with the Pistols for us. A bunch of real good stuff that we all knew. Never Mind The Bollocks is one of the most important albums in all time for me. So many good songs. We started some years before the Pistols comeback tour so people really enjoyed getting the chance hear those crackers again. The first gig was at a big party for a friend of mine. Nobody really knew that we were going to play. We were dressed up in "Wall Street suits" and you should have seen their faces when Clint started yelling 'Right nooooooow...' (Nick)

HMTV Canada: How did you meet each other and how long have you known each other?

Bodies: The original drummer, Mr. Rahl, and rhythm guitarist, Johnny-O, and me were old school mates. We'd been in different set ups through all our lives, basically. Then I met Felcher Wheel, our first lead guitarist, on a drinking bout, as I mentioned, and we started talking about forming a band covering only the Sex Pistols. He'd been in a band called The Renegades with Nick. As for the current members, me and John L. Undell and Hans Gee go a long way back. We weren't really friends when we were kids, but we all knew about each other as we were hanging with the same crowds. Nick and me got to know each other when we formed the band, which is now fourteen years ago. (Clint)

I was very happy when Felcher phoned me and wanted to play together again. Met those blokes at a rehearsal studio and it worked out very well. I hadn't played for some years and it was nice to play some real punk rock again. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: When did you form your band and what inspired you to make music together?

Bodies: Our first rehearsal was in January 1996, so it's been a while. I don't really know what first inspired us. I think we just have that drive to create, you know? It's just something we do. Lyrically, I am mostly inspired with things that irritate me, upsets me, annoys me, gets me angry.  (Clint)

It's a great alternative for a creative need, as opposed to bowling or stamp collecting. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: Which songs do you perform frequently? Do you play any other covers?

Bodies: We have about twenty original songs now, that we choose from when performing. We made a decision about two years ago to drop the covers all together. But we have covered 'Search and Destroy' (Iggy Pop and the Stooges), 'Bang bang' (Iggy Pop), 'White Riot' (The Clash), 'Janie Jones' (The Clash), 'London's Burning' (The Clash), 'The KKK took my baby away' (The Ramones), 'Blietzkrieg Bop' (The Ramones), 'Beat on the brat' (The Ramones) and 'New Rose' (The Damned). I may have forgotten about one or two, but they have all been in our set at one time or another. (Clint)

You forgot 'Sommar'n dšr' by the Swedish legend John Holm. A pretty strange cover for a band like us. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organizations?

Bodies: We're not contracted to any label or promoter. Not that we would mind, it just hasn't happened. We are members of the Swedish organization STIM, an organization that looks after artists' copyrights and collect money for airplay and record selling and such. (Clint)

HMTV Canada: 7. I noticed your track Drive has that punk metal vibe, Sweet Pain is filled with that power pop vibe Sicken and Blind Brother are awesome tracks they have that pure punk vibe.  Can you tell us who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?

Bodies: Usually, it's Nick or John L. that write the music and I come up with the lyrics. We have no set way of writing songs - sometimes the music comes first, but mostly I submit some lyrics to either Nick or John L. and they come up with some music for it. Lyrically, it is mainly about things I see as wrong or something that just rubs me the wrong way. It may be some stupid politician, it can be human stupidity - how we always seem to treat each other badly, some individual that I'm angry with, how we pollute the planet and destroy our future. These are main themes, but there are also relational problems and love. 'Sweet Pain', for instance, is about the sweet pain of being head over heels in love. At least it is to me, but I've heard several other interpretations of the meaning of the words. And that is really the way I want it. I want people to interpret each song differently, and hopefully that is what I achieve. (Clint)

HMTV Canada: Where have you performed, what are your favorite and least favorite venues?  Do you have any upcoming shows?

Bodies: As we're a D.I.Y. band, unfortunately we rarely get outside Stockholm. Much due to the costs involved with touring. We plan, however, to get over to Glasgow sometime during spring and we have a standing invitation to go to Detroit and play at a local boat party. We would simply love to get abroad and meet the people we've made friends with over myspace. Our favorite venue has to be one that is no longer around - The Chrome Bar. We performed to just over 1.000 people. It was a great place! Least favorite are all the places that don't do right by musicians and have them play for food and two beers (though the actual performance can be great). (Clint)

I’ve played in France with my old band The Renegades some years ago. Both club gigs and at a festival. I must say that I really want to do it again with Bodies. Nice, friendly people, food and booze and the audience was great. You could see that they really liked live music.

I have to agree with Clint about the least favorite venues. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: What was your biggest challenge as a band, how did you overcome this challenge?

Bodies: We've actually been through quite a few ordeals as a band. We've had a lot of members dropping out, some at the time when we've been on the verge of stepping up a bit when it comes to reaching out to people and getting to play the somewhat larger venues. There have been at least four times when we've had to, more or less, start over from scratch. (Clint)

HMTV Canada: What is the ultimate direction for your band what do you hope to accomplish in the future?

Bodies: We don't really have a set aim as such. Not career wise, anyway. We want to have fun with our music, get out and play as much as possible and meet the crowds. If someone would like to help us, that would be perfect. If not, we'll just keep doing what we're doing. If some label would like us to record a record for them, brilliant. But if not, we'll just keep going as we've done for the past fourteen years. We're a bunch of mates that love to play together. (Clint)

For me it’s to be an even tighter live band and write even better songs. We also want to make a new recording that we all are really happy with. Hopefully this autumn. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: What are your influences and how are your fans reacting to your music?

Bodies: Our influences are, and I'm sorry I have to reply with the common answer, very varying. We all listen to very different stuff. But I would say that for our own music, the influences are all within the pop-rock-punk-metal sphere. And I hope we mix it all into our own sound. (Clint)

We've been a D.I.Y. band for so long now, that I still have a hard time realizing that we actually do have 'fans'. =) But it's a great feeling. They usually ask us if we can come play in their town and want to help out spreading the word. One of our friends, or a fan if you like, made us a profile on Bebo and set us up with a chatboard at www.bodiessweden.proboards74.com as a surprise gift. And she's also the administrator of both of them, but we supply material such as downloads and pictures and answer all questions ourselves. (Clint)

It’s nice to see that we have some hardcore fans out there. And not only in Sweden. Fans are asking for T-shirts and stuff from all over the world. We probably have to thank the MySpace phenomenon for that. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: How do you like our music site at Hollywood Music TV?

Bodies: I think it's great! I like a lot of bands on there, such as Daredevil Jane. And I'm all for any chance for unsigned bands to reach out to a wider audience. Unfortunately, with the summer break and all, we've been lagging behind on the updates on our profile. We'll get there, though, and post some new stuff! (Clint)

HMTV Canada: What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands today? What’s the music scene like in Sweden?

Bodies: Just do it! That's what punk is all about to me. You want to make a film? Do it. Want to make a fanzine? Do it. Want to be an off-road biker? Do it. Want to try parachuting? Do it. When we all started out playing in our teens, there were no venues where we could perform, so we created our own. We rented places and sold tickets to all our friends, and we sometimes still do. There's a lot of work involved, but it's also a great satisfaction when it all REALLY happens! And if you can't play the guitar properly? So, what! You'll get there. Or perhaps you'll find you're more interested in playing the bass, the drums or sing. Try, explore and experiment until you find your thing. (Clint)

Have fun and try to stay friends. (Nick)

The music scene in Sweden is extremely vibrant, when it comes to bands. And most of them are really good in their genre.  But there aren't enough places to play. And there are really no 'mid-sized' venues. (Clint)

Yeah, too few places for too many bands. Hell, there is a lot of very cool bands in Sweden right now, but many of them will call it a day because they cannot get any gigs. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: Is there anyone you will like to acknowledge?  Any last words?

Bodies: Well... That will have to be former band members, especially Johnny-o and Ego T. Superstar. And our families, for putting up with us. (Clint)

I have to say thanks to, Mr. Felcher, for putting me together with Clint and the boys. (Nick)

HMTV Canada: Thank You Bodies for taking the time to complete this questionnaire, a pleasure interviewing your band, hope to see you play in concert in Canada someday. You Rock

Thank you! We really hope we'll get over. - Cheers, everyone! =)/Bodies thru Clint, Hell, and Nick Cee.

HMTV Canada Tina: Hi Steve Congratulations on your new release, "Dare To Dream".

Steve: Thanks, Tina. It has been a long time coming, but it is finally finished.

HMTV Canada Tina: How are your Saga fans and new fans responding to Dare to Dream?

Steve: The initial response has been fabulous. I think the fans are surprised that the drumming is not the main focus for my solo CD.  I played most of the keyboards on it and acoustic 12 string and classical guitar as well.  I have a great writing partner and singer, Al Langlade.

HMTV Canada Tina: Can you elaborate on how "Dare to Dream's" production involved networking through the Internet?

Steve: Sure. Al lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario which is about a thousand miles from me.  I would send him music over the net, and he would record the vocals and then send them back to me.  I could then drop the vocals into my mix.  We did the whole CD like that.

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you find the internet and effective means of marketing and distributing your music?

Steve: I think the internet is the new way of thinking for marketing and distribution.  The writing is on the wall for retail outlets of CDs. Eventually, there will be no hardware, all music will be downloaded, along with liner notes and pictures. The face of record labels is already changing to reflect that. I think the internet marketing will continue to grow as bands and labels reinvent themselves to suit the new way of thinking.

HMTV Canada Tina: What were your influences or inspirations when you first started to learn the drums?

Steve: I was interested in drums from about the age of 9 or 10.  I was pounding away on the furniture to early 60's rock and roll and then the Beatles happened and the whole world changed. I was lucky. I saw the Beatles play in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1964. That definitely changed my life. I had my first drum kit at 12 and my first band at 13.  I wanted to take lessons at school, but everyone wanted to be a drummer, so they were going to make me play saxophone. I didn't have any interest in that, so I didn't take music.  I taught myself by playing along with records...45's back then.

HMTV Canada Tina: Did you have any idols or anyone famous that were your influences as a child first learning the drums?

Steve: One of the first albums I had was Dave Brubeck, "Time Further out". There is a track called "Far more Drums" that is still one of the best drum solos I have ever heard.  Around 1971 I heard a band called "Tower of Power" and the drummer, Dave Garibaldi changed my life again. I had to play that music.  I would say that he is probably the single most influential player for me. I still love what he does.

HMTV Canada Tina: How has your music styles changed since you first began playing, and producing?

Steve: I would say my style is more about groove than anything else. I really don't consider myself a typical prog rock drummer, although there are elements of that music that I draw upon.  I guess I am a bit old school in the sense that I still think the song is the most important thing and I usually look for the simplest approach to the drum grooves, picking my moments to add something different or innovative. My solo CD is really about the songs and I had the chance to play keyboards and acoustic guitar as well.  "As I Am" is a perfect example of the simplicity.  There are no drum fills in that song at all because I felt the song didn't call for it.

HMTV Canada Tina: What genre of music do you consider Dare to Dream to be and how does your new music format differ from your previous band Saga?

Steve: "Dare to Dream" is a very special song for me.  I had those chords floating around for quite a long time and even presented them to Saga but they weren't interested. I sent them to Al over the net and he sent them back to me with those lyrics and melodies.  I was floored! That was really the moment I realized that Al and I would make the "Dare to Dream" CD.  It has also become a theme for me as well.  My band is affectionately known as the "Dare to Dream team". I don't think my music fits in any particular category.  I think it is just a culmination of all the music I have played over the years.  I lost interest in what Saga was doing and it was time to move on.  "Dare to Dream" put the joy back into making music for me.

HMTV Canada Tina: What inspired you to use the title "Dare to Dream" and what does that mean to you?

Steve: I have been making music all my life.  It is what I truly love to do. We all have dreams, and not all of us get to realize them.  For me, this CD more than any other that I've recorded over the years is the realization of my vision (along with Al), and I think that the theme is universal.  We all need to "Dare to Dream"!!  I can't really think of any other way to say it. Al was the one who came up with those lyrics and it captures the spirit with which we make music together.

HMTV Canada Tina: Can you explain how Dare To Dream means taking control of your destiny?

Steve: I think that it would have been easy to keep playing with Saga but I have dreams of something more than that. It was a big decision to leave Saga after 26 years, but I had always said, that when it is no longer fun, it is time to move on.  It reached that point for me, and I felt there was something missing.  I think that it was the right time to "test the waters" with my own approach and my own music.  That is what "Dare to Dream" is to me.

HMTV Canada Tina: What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs in Dare to Dream? Will these topics change over time in the future?

Steve: Al is the real lyricist, and he wrote almost all of the lyrics.  I would say, Al draws mainly from human experiences, not necessarily personal experiences.

I think people will get different things from the lyrics.  They lend themselves to interpretation.  People will ultimately decide themselves what the songs are about and what the lyrics mean to them.

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you ever write about personal experiences, inspirations, worst past issues while performed at music venues or places you travelled that relate to your songs?

Steve: I think the themes are more universal than specific to personal experience.

HMTV Canada Tina: What are some of the highlights about your new solo project such as the new band members, do you have plans to tour with Dare to Dream?

Steve: The loss of Mark Severn, who played most of the guitars on the CD really set me back.  He died two weeks after finishing the recording.  It took quite a while to get back on track.  I finally found another brilliant guitar player, Kelly Kereliuk, who has taken over guitar duties with the band. We are currently looking to tour in the new year. No dates to announce yet, but they will be forthcoming. My "Dare to Dream Team" is, Ian Nielsen on bass, Kelly on guitar, Matt Whale on keys, myself and Al Langlade, singing, (also guitar and keys).

HMTV Canada Tina: What attracted you to work with Cyclone Records for your Solo Album?

Steve: I came to the realization that I can't do everything myself and Brad has a good handle on the "new way of thinking" regarding internet distribution and promotion.  It doesn't matter who you work with...if they don't believe in what you do, then nothing great will happen.  Brad understands what this whole Negus thing is about and I am confident that he will do a good job.

HMTV Canada Tina: Steve can you tell us about your Engineering qualities "The Blue Room Studio""?  I like the video that says I rest my case on your main website at: http://www.stevenegus.com/studio.html can you tell us briefly what s involved with The Blue Room Studio Recording Environment?

Steve: I have been engineering for years and have had many studios. I got interested mainly because I couldn't find engineers capable of capturing my drum sound. I have always had the drive to teach myself things, and this is another thing that interests me. The other reason, obviously is that a studio is a primary tool in writing music, especially with the continued popularity of the personal computer. I have two studios, one for tracking and one for mixing and mastering. I engineered and mixed "Dare to Dream" in my own studios and basically built the studios around my own project.  Now I'm working with other artists as well to help them realize their own vision and dreams.  I think drums is one of the hardest things to get right in a recording and that happens to be my specialty.

HMTV Canada Tina: Steve what compelled you to leave Saga after being with them for over 26 years? Was this a difficult choice and how have the fans responded to the change?

Steve: I really lost interest.  It just seemed to me to be more of the same.  I wasn't involved in the writing, and I don't think the band wanted me to be.  What they really wanted was a side man and that is now what they have and they are happy.  I must admit, that I am much happier as well, so we all win. The journey is the important thing, and my journey has taken a different path.  I am delighted to play with my new band...everything is fresh again.

HMTV Canada Tina: Can you tell us briefly how did you first get into the band Saga and do you still continue to collaborate with them today for concerts?

Steve: Three of the members of Saga including myself came from another Canadian band, Fludd. The guitar player, Brian Pilling was suffering from leukemia and the band had to fold.  Saga, originally called Pockets came out of that. I would say that my relationship with the other Saga members is a bit strained at the moment. I don't speak to them on any sort of regular basis, and I certainly do not collaborate with them musically.  They weren't interested in my ideas when I was in the band, I don't expect that to be any different now.  I had a lot of good years with Saga, but that part of my life is now finished and I have turned to a new page.  There is no going back only forward.

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you have any interesting stories from your days in Saga that you would like to relate?

Steve: There are many interesting stories in my saga of Saga, but I think at this point I am much more interested in exploring what the new band has to offer.

HMTV Canada Tina: Rumor has it that Michael Sadler the lead singer for Saga has quit the band. What were Michael Sadler reasons for leaving Saga and will they seek a new lead singer for the band?

Steve: Michael played his last show last weekend, I believe.  This year was the thirtieth anniversary.  Time to move on for him as well.

HMTV Canada Tina: What other music projects or bands have you collaborated with in the past?

Steve: Well, let’s see...I have recorded 5 other projects this year, mixed several others and mastered several others as well. I am constantly making music in one aspect or another.  I recorded "The Getaway" CD with Chris de Burgh, "Waving not Drowning" with Rupert Hine. "One Size fits All" with the Nylons, and the list goes on.

HMTV Canada Tina: What has been your biggest challenge in your music career and how did you overcome this challenge?

Steve: I think the biggest challenge lies ahead and that is to bring my new music to the people in an industry that is in a state of flux and re-inventing itself.  I'm not eighteen any more with tight jeans and a fancy haircut but I have a vision and I want to realize that, not just for myself, but for Al and my new bandmates.  I am starting all over again, and time will tell what the outcome will be.

HMTV Canada Tina: How has the Music Industry has changed in Canada since you first began playing in bands back in the 70's.

Steve: The Canadian scene is in a sad state at the moment.  There are very few places to play and most Canadian musicians have been reduced to making music a "hobby" as opposed to a career.  I think there are a lot of very talented young artists out there looking for ways to get the music to the people.  These are different times...I played almost every night in clubs when I was young.  That avenue doesn't exist anymore. That is why the net and MySpace and YouTube and iTunes etc. are the new way of thinking.

HMTV Canada Tina: Steve do you have any advice for musicians wanting to form their own bands today that are breaking into the music industry in Canada?

Steve: Only that you have to think outside the box. The rules have changed completely and we are all trying to figure out what comes next.  The best of luck to all.

HMTV Canada Tina: Before we close our interview is there anyone that you would like to acknowledge or any last words?

Steve: Well, my wife Nicole, who is my best friend and supporter, my band, and the Saga fans who have continued to support me with "Dare to Dream."

HMTV Canada Tina:  Thank you, Steve, for taking the time to complete Hollywood Music TV Canada's Online Ezine Interview. You Rock.

Steve: My pleasure!

HMTV interviews Trigger The Bloodshed

www.metalblade.com

HMTV Canada: Hey guys, Congrats on your recent release The Great Depression through Metal Blade Records. I wanted to start with the lyrical content of the Great Depression what motivated or inspired the band to write their lyrics in an intelligent way to educate the listener, about real world events and issues plaguing our world today?

Rob: The lyrics on the album aren't written as an education so much, but as a reflection of some of the things that are going hideously wrong in the world, inspired by the twisted stories and articles you see in the media, the ones that really irritate and anger you as you read them, that make you question, is this world going to be around much longer.

HMTV Canada:  Two tracks “The Great Depression and Warbound” pretty much sums up the collision course that humanity seems to be facing with insecurity and fear of having no future have many fans said the same thing about these two tracks?

Rob: So far, we haven't had much feedback about the lyrics from the new album apart from the press, but I think a lot of people would have realized the feelings behind the songs, it's not very hard to catch on to what they're all about!

HMTV Canada: Do all the band members contribute their ideas when writing the lyrical content?

Rob: Yes, we all have our input, but it’s mainly just Jonny writing and every now and again Rob will write some as well. We'll always look at the lyrics as a band to make sure we're all happy with them and to see if anyone has any better ideas.

HMTV Canada: Are there any song tracks that are personal or issues the band has experienced in their hometown or through friends?

Rob: The album was never to about personal experience, but at the same time, the stories and ideas behind what we sing about do affect everybody, sometimes they might not realize it, but they do. So, it is kind of personal, kind of not.

HMTV Canada: The Great Depression is an incredible well mastered Album to include topics about current issues but there are tracks I’m curious about can you elaborate on the interesting lyrical content of your tracks Desiccate Earth, The Infliction of Tophet, Disfigured Anonymity and Terminus?

Rob: These tracks focus on a few different issues, the ever-imminent oil crisis the world will shortly have to face, the sick regime Robert Mugabe holds over Zimbabwe, how once criminals are released that they disappear into the crowds once more to commit again and Terminus is a vision of the final moments of humanity.

HMTV Canada: I couldn’t believe how much the instruments and sound and brutal vocals are in sync with each other from your video The Great Depression where on location was this video filmed at?

Rob: We filmed this at an old farm not too far away from where we all live. The guys who filmed it new the owner and we were really happy with the place when we saw it, and also really happy with the results we got and how the video turned out.

HMTV Canada: I noticed the sound is way more brutal and powerful with a more live kick than your previous Album Purgation can you tell us the journey The Great Depression has been through the hard work involved the recording, mixing and mastering and if there have been any challenges?

Rob: we had quite a few problems with the recording of The Great Depression. The recording itself was mostly okay despite the limited time at points, but when it came to the mixing parts of songs started to go missing that we had to re-record and sometimes the order of drums would be completely messed up. We actually had to come back from tour to re-record a whole track of vocals for “The Dead World!” When we had got over all of those problems there was very limited time to get a sound, we were happy with, but we were all really happy with it in the end.

HMTV Canada: I dig your video Laceration from your former release Purgation will you be producing any music videos in the future from the song tracks of The Great Depression?

Rob: We have already filmed one for the title track of the album, which has been up for a while now, apart from that I don't know yet if we plan to make another one for this album.

HMTV Canada: Who is the incredible Artist that designs the bands merchandise and CD Covers?

Rob: Our artwork was done by Toshihiro Egawa, we were really happy with how it turned out!

HMTV Canada: I m curious at this point Trigger The Bloodshed has done a fantastic job in self-producing their music has the band helped engineer the music of other great Artists?

Rob: No not so far, hopefully at some point in the future!

HMTV Canada: What is the focus for Trigger The Bloodshed in 2009 will the band be working on new material, or concentrating on major tours?

Rob: At the moment touring is the main priority because we are really happy with this record and want as many people to hear it as we can get, but we will also be working and trying to develop a sound and concept for the next album. We're aiming to have it written by the end of 2009.

HMTV Canada: Speaking of tours which music venue stands out in the bands mind as being one of their favorites or the most entertaining to date?

Rob: I couldn't really say but the majority of venues in Europe have the best showers EVER, awesome for smelly band members! Answered by Rob.

I want to thank, Trigger The Bloodshed and Metal Blade Records, for this interview opportunity. Horns High You Rock HMTV Canada.

HMTV Canada Tina Interviews Black Rain Creek

www.myspace.com/blackraincreek

www.mikseri.net/blackraincreek

HMTV Canada Tina: Hi Mika and Tomi, have you been successful in your search for a Drummer, Bassist and second Guitarist?

Mika: Hi Tina. Unfortunately, no. The drummer would be the most important. And it is the most difficult to find.

HMTV Canada Tina: When it comes to the right fit for Black Rain Creek what are you seeking in musician ship skills for your players?

Mika: Good accurate playing, and a bit of creativity and contribution to songwriting/arranging wouldn't hurt either. Being serious and ambitious about the band is important.

HMTV Canada Tina: For just two band members, Black Rain Creek has done amazing work. Can you tell us about your self-produced CD Pale Southern Light?

Mika: Thank you. Well, all the music and instruments are by me, Tomi is responsible for lyrics and vocals. The first two tracks (Last car to Elysian fields and Sunset limited) were new recordings, and tracks 3-5 were older recordings re-mixed. The whole thing was then professionally mastered by Joona Lukala. The two new tracks were actually my second real recording and mixing project ever. The first was with the previous songs.

HMTV Canada Tina: Each songs offer a different sound in the guitars and the drums, I really dig the song tracks Last Car to Elysian Fields, Sunset Limited and Black Rain Creek.  I'm curious is it Social and Worldly issues that you express in your songs do you write about other issues?

Mika: As said above, tracks 1-2 were new recordings done with same sounds, rest were done with same sounds earlier, a year before if I remember correct, but remixed for better sound for the "Pale southern light". There may be slight variations in sounds of tracks 3-5 as I had some problems with music software.

HMTV Canada Tina: What motivates or inspires Tomi to write lyrics?

Mika: Who knows. I just let him do what he does, he-he.

HMTV Canada Tina: Were there any challenges for Mika to put the lyrics to music and instrumentals?

Mika: I write music, and Tomi writes lyrics for it after that. So, it's up to Tomi to write lyrics he thinks are suitable for the music. We discuss about song structures and ideas of course.

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you have anyone helping recording, mixing and mastering Black Rain Creeks songs?

Mika: Only for mastering. Everything else is made by me. I used to try to master myself too, but it's too difficult and it was really a great decision to give it to someone who knows what he's doing. I am looking forward for improving my recording and mixing for the new stuff. The best thing would be to go to a studio with full band, and have a professional recording and mixing engineer. I'd wish to concentrate only on guitar and songwriting. But for now, it's not possible.

HMTV Canada Tina: With just the two band members have there been any challenges in producing the songs from Pale Southern Light?

Mika: Yes and no. The only problem is that since I am the only one responsible for the musical and productional side of things, it means I have tons of work, and it can be frustrating and tiring. Recording and mixing with not much experience is a struggle always too.

DJ Tina: I could detect a little bit of Rob Zombie in some of your sounds who are the main influences for your music?

Mika: Not Rob Zombie at least, he-he. Haven't ever listened to that kind of stuff. It's really difficult to say, actually I mostly listen to very different kind of music than I make myself. Mostly some selected black metal lately. I do like many kinds of music though, but I tend to be very picky on what I really like. Most of today's metal, or music in general, doesn't interest me. It seems most of the metal I like is from the (early) 90's. We think it's the best that people get their own images and associations about our music. Our purpose is to have our own style and sound, being somewhat traditional type of metal at the same time.

HMTV Canada Tina: Have you been able to play any live shows since the release of your 5 song EP?

Mika: No, it's impossible until we have a full line-up.

HMTV Canada Tina: Is there any meaning in your band name Black Rain Creek is that a location in Finland?

Mika: We prefer not to explain our lyrics and the name of the band. We rather let people make their own conclusions. It's not related to Finland, however.

HMTV Canada Tina: Before starting Black Rain Creek did both band members play in other bands?

Mika: We've both had projects earlier.

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you plan to open a Zazzle store www.zazzle.com to sell Black Rain Creek merchandise online through the internet

Mika: For now, we are not able to have much merchandise at all. We have plans to record a new ep soonish though, but we have no possibility for having many copies of our CD’s and for distribution other than locally and sending them for reviews etc. We had 100 copies of Pale southern light, and probably have 100 of next one too.

HMTV Canada Tina: Before we wrap up our interview what are Black Rain Creeks goals once they find new band members do you have any live gigs planned or videos from your song tracks in the works for 2009?

Mika: Yeah, we'd really wish to have gigs, but it's all up to finding the members, which is very difficult. We will have 4 new songs coming out however. They're practically finished, only some finishing touches are needed. Mostly with vocals and guitar solos. Then there's the actual recording and mixing of course. It's not unfortunately topical now, but a record deal, full line-up, full length album etc. are things I'd wish for the band.

HMTV Canada Tina: Any last words?

Mika: I'd like to thank everyone who have supported us and like what we are doing. Also, as we are in need of band members, any help is much appreciated. Also, with any kind of promotion. If you like what you hear, spread the word.

HMTV Canada Tina: Thank you, Mika and Tomi, for allowing our HMTV Canada eZine to interview your band. You Rock

Mika: Thank you too Tina.

HMTV Canada Tina intervista Vitaly

www.myspace.com/vitalychurch<br>

www.vitalychurch.com

Tutto   prodotto da me.

Influenze di A. About, abbiamo molti.

A. Honesty.

HMTV Canada Tina Interviews Valerie of Eye Butterfly

http://www.eyebutterfly.ca/

http://www.myspace.com/eyebutterfly

HMTV Canada Tina: Hi Val how are you?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: I’m great! Thanks for asking.

HMTV Canada Tina: Eye Butterfly is a very unique name? Can you tell us what the origin of that name is?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: I would love to give you the meaning behind the name. Eye - (1 – beginnings.) The perception and evolution through each trial we endure. (E.g. Love, fear, obsession etc.) The window of the soul tells all!

Butterfly - (10 - endings and outcomes.) Defines how we bloom through our love and life experiences, no matter what the outcome. Hopefully you can see your outcome as a positive, even if negative, as we must all learn from our mistakes. The Butterfly will always call for her lesson, eventually we should all bloom...do you have the time?

A lyric taken from the latest EB single “Broken Wings”

“I wish I, could unleash the Butterfly in me." "I'd send her out to find the one who's right for me, define the one who's right?" Put the two together and you have an adventure!

HMTV Canada Tina: Val when did you begin playing music? Did you attend any Professional Vocal Schools before you started your music career?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: I began performing music in high school; oh yes, I played the trumpet! It was around 1997 I had made a serious decision to pursue music professionally. I began taking guitar lessons writing and composing my own songs; whilst looking for a band to join. I started out in Rock, and after my first band had fallen apart, I decided to seek out vocal training. I ended up finding an amazing teacher by the name of Ray Lyle, formerly known as ‘Ray Lyle and the storm.’ Since then, I’ve worked on music with many talented artists and consider myself self-taught.

HMTV Canada Tina: Can you tell us about Eye Butterfly’s unique style of the music making process?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: The Eye Butterfly writing process was fairly unique. The previous programmer would create the instrumentation, and I would come in and lay my vocal ideas down when his part was complete. We never worked together in the writing process aside from me sometimes asking him to add a bridge, some small arrangement ideas, and choosing pre-made samples I thought would fit the Eye Butterfly sound/voice. In the future, I hope to work more closely on arrangements with new writers.

HMTV Canada Tina: Val you’re a great song writer. What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?

Eye Butterfly Valerie:  Thank you for the compliment. Each song I try to write a special topic for; some are parables and most involve some sort of love theme; whether it centers on a dark or light feel. Take your minds challenges and mix it with fantasy; a nice way of putting frightful, into fun! (and visa versa.) This is something that the songs have developed over time, and has become a staple sound for Eye Butterfly. The single I’m working on right now for instance, incorporates a Vampire theme; (Vampire, I do) and Pandora’s Box has a perfect way of voicing how I transform the Greek Mythological story (Pandora’s Box) and turn it into modern love confusion! Perhaps you know the original? Here’s my version.  Apart from the original tale, I see Pandora as the woman who entices you, the lure the temptress. Could Pandora be the jar/box? Giving her boy toy (haha gotta love the thesaurus!) the key to her heart and sexual desires, she entices him quickly to fall in love. After time all temptations die and love becomes a disaster rather than a celebration. He finds out his captor is dark and unhappy! Pandora doesn’t let him go to easily and tries to trap him; she takes back the key! In conclusion he finds himself with one last bit of hope, and moves on with the vestiges of his heart.

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you think that these topics will change over time?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Yes, each topic has its own unique character; although I do tend to lean on the darker side of things; I would like to add more positive love stories. :D

HMTV Canada Tina: Can you tell us about your latest release “Pandora’s Box EP” anything from messages to inspirations?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Life tends to throw out a plethora of challenges; keep your mind in the positive. We all go through many of the same experiences, and yes, the heart will make you feel; something I’d much rather be doing, than not feeling at all. ;)

HMTV Canada Tina: What was your biggest challenges recording, and mixing your latest CD? What kind of recording environment do you have?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: No CDs were released as of yet; aside from the 4 song EP released on iTunes and few singles since then. J I think the biggest challenges in the studio were budget and the mixing process. All vocals on the tracks, but one (Broken Wings) were recorded in the “basement.” I guess my main concern about the mixing process of the previous material, is that all the vocals were mixed around the instrumentation. (The instrumentation was therefore locked into one file and the vocals mixed over the single stereo file) This was a fairly unfamiliar process than I was used to; and at the end of the day was more of the outcome of the previous composer. I think it is important for industry people, fans, and those who wanted or want to remix the EP to know this, and to understand this is one of the main reasons why the songs are demo’s and cannot be remixed. I may play these songs live someday, and I am pretty much using the songs you see on the Myspace pages etc., etc. as a catalyst to find new writers/members.

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you have a record label or are in the market of looking for one?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Once Eye Butterfly has an official lineup or I’ve found enough talent to contribute new songs to an album; a label is definitely a future goal, whether it be just for distribution or on a larger scale. I think the main goal right now is to write a new album or EP and tour/live shows; I would like to include a Manager.

HMTV Canada Tina: Is Eye Butterfly a member of any music organizations?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Eye Butterfly is a Member of the Canadian Independent Recording Artists’ Association.

HMTV Canada Tina: How is the adventure going with the lustrous new track that you are currently working on?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: The new single is going very well; a fellow by the name of Ivor (front man of the band 8 digital) and I have collaborated on this track. Ivor has provided the instrumentation, and of course myself; vocals and lyrics. I chose a Vampire theme for this single, and we’re recording vocals as we speak. If you like Ann Rice, you may find she has inspired some of my lyrical content in this one; we’re hoping to release this single, early 2008.

HMTV Canada Tina: How does this new track fit perfectly with your previous EP?

Eye Butterfly Valerie:  The new single has a great blend of haunting, fantasy, dark, ethereal, yet lush vocals; combine that with fairy tale electro, fun distorted bass lines, danceable groove and stomping bass beats and you have a formula that fits!

HMTV Canada Tina: I understand that you been going through major changes with Eye Butterfly are you still an Electronica Solo Project or are you've with a band?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Right now, Eye Butterfly is a solo project. I may find new permanent members or write enough songs with collaborators, and hire live players in later. For all those who are interested in collaborating or joining, please go to www.eyebutterfly.ca for more information. Thank you

HMTV Canada Tina: Are you currently working on any new material with new band members or concentrating on any upcoming live shows?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Now that the New Year (2008) has come, I can seek out more collaborators; right now Ivor and I are preparing to finish “Vampire, I do” the next single release. I would like to get EyeButterfly back on the stages; although, finding solid writers for an album is my main focus.

HMTV Canada Tina: How are your fans reacting to your music currently?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: The fans are wonderful! It’s really nice to see that some of the fans have been inspired to start their own projects. I love seeing the reactions from people all over the world on sites such as Myspace and Vampire Freaks, thanks to them; they have held me up in the darkest of times.

HMTV Canada Tina: Are you affiliated with any dark underground scenes like Vampire Freaks?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Yes, EyeButterfly has a page set up with Vampire Freaks. VF, has been an awesome catalyst in bringing in new fans for EyeButterfly; I definitely think it’s a great site! You can find the official EyeButterfly Vampire Freaks page at the link provided below. http://vampirefreaks.com/EyeButterfly

HMTV Canada Tina: Val how has the internet helped your music as a marketing tool?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: To tell you the truth EyeButterfly has done one show in the past; the internet initiated most of our viewers and fans for that night. I would say we had close to a 100 people on a Sunday – All ages; not bad, considering that three of the five bands were from out of town! J I guess you could say “Cyberspace” is responsible for bringing out actual fans; and not just your parents and best friends ;) hehe The internet has helped greatly in reaching large amounts of people in a very short time for EyeButterfly, how cool is that? (Although, I will say, you do have to work the net just like any other promotional tool you may be offered; sweat blood and tears baby!)

HMTV Canada Tina: Do you have any advice for young female musicians that wish to form their own bands?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: I would say, keep grounded in terms of drinking and parties; temptation can kill your connection with band members, yourself, and possible business contacts etc., etc. (Or it can make them! :P) Create a budget, make goals, and keep communicating on all levels. Develop a strong team to help you succeed; write as much as possible! Success won’t happen over night and don’t give up.

HMTV Canada Tina: How do you like our music site at Hollywood Music TV?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: I think the site is great! We are so lucky to have established sites like yours helping out artists with little or no fan base at all! Thanks for that.

HMTV Canada Tina: Before we close our interview is there any one that you would like to acknowledge, give shout outs to or any last words?

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Shout outs are definitely in order! ;) EyeButterfly thanks the fans first and foremost. For any of you who have helped EyeButterfly to present. To my boys Vic Mendoza and Tommy the Tank; you have been so supportive, and of course you Tina, thanks for this opportunity. Sheesh, I feel like I just won an award! :P

HMTV Canada Tina: Val, thank you for taking the time to complete our interview; it’s been an honor your music is awesome well mastered filled with different pleasing sounds and great lyrics. Please let me know when your new song is completed I look forward to buying your next EP.

Eye Butterfly Valerie: Thanks so much for your interest in EyeButterfly. It’s an honor to be part of your site and interview! For updates and info please check out the main EyeButterfly site at www.eyebutterfly.ca and thanks for those who are reading.
